Francesca Fortenbaugh, PhD
Director, Cognitive & Sensory Systems Laboratory, VA Boston Healthcare System
Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School
Dr. Fortenbaugh's research examines how the brain processes visual information and how neurological injury and disease affect perception, cognition, and sensory function. Her work combines behavioral methods, neuroimaging, and retinal imaging to investigate visual attention, photosensitivity, mild traumatic brain injury, retinal disease, and other factors that influence visual and neurobehavioral outcomes. Her current research focuses on identifying biomarkers of deployment-related exposures and understanding the neural mechanisms underlying individual differences in sensory and cognitive functioning.
